Passport

Censor

A wise man once said never argue about football, politics or religion. Fine words for people who want a quiet life but I'm a graduate social science and psychology student so I just can't help myself. The prompt this week was "passport" and I had a few questions about freedom so I thought I'd go with them and see where they went. Not surprisingly my quandary gained some sympathy from fellow writers but I suppose it's all down to the readers in the end or is it?

Selfie stick

Some good work was produced by the double prompt challenge which was put forward on this occassion. 'I turned around and there was a baby in my trolley' was augmented by an alternative sugestion '101 things to do with a selfie stick'. There were some very interesting ideas put forward about the selfie stick and I decided I just couldn't do things by half so I met it full on and came up with this.

Secrets and confessions

Bank robber

This prompt was instigated in response to a Scottish book trust competition which invited writers to submit true stories revealing their darkest secrets and confessions so I gave it a whirl. It got mixed reviews when I read it out. Some thought it was good others while others got confused and missed the point. I put it down to my reading skills because they got a different perspective when they read it. I never submitted it for the competition but that wasn't because I wasn't happy with it. Technical problems with the online process resulting in a missed deadline was the main reason but maybe you should never publish the fact you robbed a bank anyway.
